Eighteen cheerful and chatty walkers chose the Mackerel/Challenger walk, on a pleasant and cloudy day. The ferry ride was enjoyable, and 
the beach walk at the start was achieved with dry feet.

A steep uphill section led to morning tea, with great views over the Pittwater/Palm Beach area to add to the pleasure of morning tea

We then followed the fire trail up to the meeting point with The Basin track. A short walk along the main road, then out along the Challenger
track, where more great views were enjoyed with lunch.

On our return, we again visited the aboriginal carvings, and finally the steep downhill to The Basin.
