If you arrive early you have to wait! A history lecture, while the Falls were waiting.
Seventeen (who’d have thought ?) intrepid walkers alighted from their shared cars at Honour Avenue and proceeded down the Cataract Falls track under the nervous leadership of Sue Buxton, ably assisted by Don Woolley. A sunny day and dry conditions led expectations of a good walk, and these were fulfilled to a high degree.
Relaxed leader and happy followers after seeing the first of many waterfalls
One of many lovely waterfalls The sign said "no more than 3 people on bridge" so we were very cautious
Six waterfalls, many, many steps and slippery creek crossings took us down beautiful gulleys. Lovely pools for our morning tea and lunch stops cheered us as we munched our lunchtime sandwiches and prepared for the walk up.
Morning tea at Federal Falls
There were places where it was wet....... ...and places where it was dry.
We saw fungi ......... and eucalypts shedding bark....... and peaceful forest tracks among the tall trees.
There were tricky creek crossings
Plenty of ups, as well as downs! Colourful yabby found at Bedford Pool.
We all arrived safely back at our cars tired, hot but extremely satisfied with a great walk, and then coffee and milkshakes at Mountain Blue.
PS Did I fall asleep at the theatre that night ? Yes!
