Notwithstanding forecast temperatures of over 30 degrees, ten walkers set out from the car park at Umina Beach to walk initially round the headland underneath the cliffs to Pearl Beach where we met up briefly with the Regular walkers getting ready to set off. After a short road walk we turned off into the Crommelin Arboretum were we proceeded through tree shaded tracks to the far end to join the Waterfall Track. Ascending the track we shortly arrived at a creek. Crossing the creek with a bit of rock scrambling we then walked out to some flat rocks which afforded views back to the water, where we had morning tea. A further half hour along an undulating bush track took us to the junction with the main fire trail. Proceeding up this fire trail brought us to the Warrah Lookout from where were we admired the views over the Hawkesbury and Patonga Beach. After a short time back on the track, it was agreed that in view of the heat which would be even greater after lunch when we climbed steeply back up from Patonga Beach, we would instead enjoy lunch on a platform of relatively shaded rocks with great views over the Hawkesbury and then turn back. Proceeding first down the fire trail and then down the rockier Postman’s Track, we soon arrived back at Pearl Beach. After a short walk out to the Landa Reserve and back, the coffee shop was a welcome sight. Rehydrated we then headed back round the track under the rocks to Umina, satisfied that we had still had a good walk for such a hot day.
