Leader Celia's 'words':
Our group of 10 from Turramurra arrived at the car park near the locked gate on Narrowneck & were joined by several more car loads of walkers bringing the total number of walkers to 24.
The leaders made the decision to leave out the Redledge Pass section of the walk because it would be too hard for most of the group.
As we set off from the carpark the weather had changed becoming quite cold & windy. The rain which had been forecast for later on Friday arrived at Katoomba early but luckily only amounted to a few
drizzly showers. We walked along the firetrail & explored the lookouts of Castle Head, first to the Hanging Swamp lookout & then Cedar Creek lookout where we were treated to great views over Mt Solitary & the
Burragorang Valley.
It was on to the lookout where we could see the Three Sisters & finally the best one kept until last, Castle Head. It was decided by a majority vote to return to the Three Sisters lookout for lunch. It was more protected here out of the wind.
The bush was very thick & scratchy in many places so the advice to wear long sleeved shirts as well as long trousers was appreciated-thank you Clive.
After lunch it was back the same way to the cars & coffee on the way home @ Springwood. A very enjoyable day & the bonus being back home before 5pm.
For the record, the 24 walkers were: Leaders Clive and Celia followed by Rhondda, Jill, Nick, Wendy C, David E, Barbara, Susan, Mary, Annette, 1st visitor, Lyn, Chris B, Anne R, Ros G, Maurice, John G, John B, Elaine E, Don B, Wendy P, Anne G, 2nd visitor.
