Sheldon Forest one hour after sunrise. Crossing a creek in Sheldon Forest.
The sun is up, and Lyn has a birthday. (Mimosa Oval.)
Morning Tea was 'pull up a rock' on a track below Mitchell Oval. One view of mainly backs and one view of faces.
Clive was tail-end Charlie before lunch, then in the Lane Cove River NP John G took over. In solidarity he was joined by Johns B and M.
Then things did not go according to plan. Helen A could not find a track on the other side of the Lane Cove River that leads directly up to City View Lookout. After some to-ing and fro-ing along a very rubbly narrow road beside the river, we gave up and walked out up the Conscript Pass direct to Thornleigh Oval. There walkers took the 2nd part of lunch they had saved to eat whilst gazing out from the City View Lookout. Leader Helen A would like to thank all walkers, who without exception, commiserated without one word of complaint. Look in the next President's Page for 'What went wrong and how to avoid the same error another time.'.
And above is the view that was missed. After coffee in the Commenarra Shopping centre, Wendy C, Clive and Helen A returned to the track. They followed the path direct to the City View Lookout and walked down the adjacent un-named track to the Lane Cove River. With the sun sinking below the ridge they are at the river crossing, whose surrounding tress were stripped of the marker ribbons tied on the previous Saturday by the reconnoiterers.
For the record: Helen A and Robyn F led Kas, Judy, Nick, Susan, Mary, Lyn, John B, John M, John G, Pragati, Dawn, Bert, Clive, Anne G, Ros G, Liz R, Deidre, Sue B, Maurice, Wendy C, brand new member Sue F and a visitor.
Words by Helen A, photos by Wendy C ( 1, 5, 8-10) and Helen A (2-4, 6 & 7).
