Twelve keen walkers met at the beachfront at Pearl Beach on a lovely clear sunny day. A short car shuffle took us to the Sani Depot trailhead on Patonga Drive. We set off along the Sani Depot Trail and Van Dahl Track to the aptly-named Morning Tea Rock - a mini Elephant Rock with expansive bush views. After morning tea we continued on to the tessellated pavement - a large section of patterned rock - beside Patonga Drive. A scientific explanation from one of our in-house geologists would have been welcome here.
We then walked on to popular Elephant Rock - an ideal lunchspot with magnificent views down to Patonga Beach and the Hawkesbury River. After lunch we scrambled down to Patonga Drive and walked around to Warrah Trig and the Warrah Lookout with views down the Hawkesbury to Barrenjoey Lighthouse. A downhill walk got us to the Pearl Beach Arboretum and a well-earned cup of coffee at the local cafe.
