6 walkers set out from Sans Souci on a hot and humid day crossing over the  Georges River along the Captain Cook Bridge to the suburb of Taren Point and the Taren Point Aquatic Reserve on Woolooware Bay.
We followed the shared pathway and boardwalks along the western edge of Woolooware Bay through mangroves and salt marsh stopping along the way at viewing decks and interpretive signs to the new viewing deck.
A restored historical oyster jetty, a post WWII Nissen Hut and an old stone oyster beds are some of the last historic remnants of a once thriving oyster industry. From the new viewing deck we could see the sand island constructed to provide a roosting and nesting place for migratory shorebirds arriving in spring and leaving in autumn for their breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere.
We ended up in a park in Woolooware and sat under shady trees for lunch a new area for us as no one had been in this suburb before.
