Sixteen Regular walkers separated from the Plus group at Drummoyne Wharf, on a cloudy but pleasant day, with showers forecast. We admired some of the houses through Drummoyne, passed along the waterfront by Birkenhead, and crossed Iron Cove Bridge.

We continued through the grounds of Callan Park, where some historical background was provided.

The small houses and streets of Lilyfield provided much interest, and (after a short detour), we located the footbridge over Victoria Rd.

By the far end of the bridge, the forecast showers showed up, and raincoats and umbrellas miraculously appeared . We were still able to wonder at the vast stone walls of the old quarries, but by the time we reached Pyrmont Bridge, the rain had really set in, and, by universal agreement, the walk finished there. Some headed for trains. Others found a coffee nearby.

In spite of the abrupt ending, there was general consensus that the walk had been worthwhile.

Elaine E and Dawn led fourteen walkers Mike and Sue, Lilian, Lyndy, Chris McA, Lydia, Ida, Ruth, Steve and Jan, Elizabeth P, Pete and Bella and Don Wo.

First Aiders:  Lyndy and Don Wo and Mike acted as tail ender.  Thanks all!
