It was third time lucky for the Social Walkers who showed the determination of true HVB walkers to finally, FINALLY enjoy the delights of Both Sides of

Cremorne Point and an extension over the bridge at the end of Reid Park. On two previous programmes this walk fell foul, firstly to track closure and then to a ferry strike. Persistence was rewarded by a perfect Spring day, blue skies and sunshine glinting on a spectacular harbour.
With regular leaders Lyn and Helen S on overseas jaunts, Clayton leaders Mary and Dawn filled in to walk with 13 - Hillie, Ray, Norma, Elaine G,
Betty, Phillip, Dot, Diana M, Jean McD, Kath, Noel, Pat U and Liz.
There was happy walking, lots of talking and more than a little reminiscing as walkers told tales of their past spent (or misspent) in the environs.
Taking advantage of the expert in our midst Ray was relied on for selection of coffee stop. Fortunately he had scoped out a substitute for the presently closed usual joint. We parted for another month with some heading to the MCA.

Can the day be better?

Kath addresses her troops. Have leaders Mary and Dawn responded to a challenge?

Ray comments 'New first-class concrete path and railings for 3/4 of the way to Mosman'. Here the group walks along the Western side of Mosman Bay towards the Lex and Ruby Graham gardens. Kath pauses to look out over the bay.

Ray had this note from Anne E:

'Dear Ray
Thank you for taking me back to the land of my youth. We lived up the hill behind Reid Park. We spent most free time exploring the whole area. My brother actually slipped over the falls one day and fell into a puddle about 20 feet below. I did tell him to stay away from the edge!! In the 50s the falls were pretty awful with the water coming out of a huge pipe about 50 metres from our house.

I was pleased to see the bridge so heavily reinforced. Back then the sides were a 1 inch pipe on top with a couple of strands of wire below. Not to worry we gladly rode our bikes across with no mishaps.  Good to know Lyn and Helen have such a strong team of reserves.
Thanks again Anne'

Mosman Bay was once known as 'Great Sirius Cove'
