Bravely trusting the weather forecast rather than their eyes, 8 met at Summer Hill. The sky turned from grey to blue for another perfect Spring day.

The Greenway linking Cooks River and Parramatta River was joined about half way along its 6km length. The Greenway owes its existence to the lobbying by councils and the community when the light rail extension was proposed and continues to be a reminder of what community agitation can
achieve. The green corridor emptied us out onto the Bay Run and our circuit of Iron Cove.
Coffee was under the trees at Bones where the canines generously shared their off-leash area. In a break from the expected, we travelled by light rail
back to Central giving some their first light rail journey.

Meanwhile, in the play park opposite. We know Mary and Dawn have form (Social walk 11 September), but Pat P also showed class

2015 09 18 Reg Helen 10aAt lunch, we all packed into one shelter. Don W was seated centre back. As we started our lunch, 9 of us decided we wanted a group photo with 10 subjects. Don climbed out over the wall, lay on the lawn to set the timer for an ideal photo, and raced back to be in time for the shot. He then rushed his lunch. 'Thanks' seems inadequate.

On our outward journey along the Hawthorne Canal we came across one of Canada Bay Council's two Gross Pollutant Traps. 'It is estimated that up
to eight tonnes of pollutants such as leaves, sediment and litter can be collected from stormwater each year by the two Gross Pollutants Traps, preventing the pollutants from reaching the foreshore and waterways of Iron Cove.' The trap was emptied while we walked.
