Berowra Valley National Park - Mt Kuring-gai Station to Berowra Station via Lyrebird Gully, Calna Creek, Sams Creek, Naa Badu Lookout and Wellspring Expresso.
Although the dire predictions of torrential rainfall did not eventuate as forecast, Ros and Polly were only joined by a small contingent of plus walkers (Pragati, John, John, Barbara, Lyn, Nick, Ann, Guenter) undaunted by the possibility of either rushing waters or hungry leeches.
As it turned out, the weather was walking perfection. The numerous creek crossings did not even come close to dampening our feet and the leeches were apparently tucked up in their beds. This is a truly gorgeous walk through three riverine valleys (Calna Creek, Berowra Creek and Sams Creek) boasting dappled waters, spring wildflowers, mangroves, salt marshes, tidal waters, sandstone overhangs, spectacular views, invigorating climbs, substantial middens, and even a prolonged viewing of an unperturbed lyrebird going about its business.
The company was congenial, the challenging climb up from Sams Creek mitigated by promise of lunch with a view, and the café stayed open just a bit longer to accommodate our need for caffeine to round off the outing.
For the record: Ros G and Polly led Pragati, John B, John G, Nick, Anne G, Guenter, Lyn and Barbara
