Fifteen of us walked up a grassy hill at Bicentennial Park on a beautiful day. Admittedly five of them belonged to a swan family that we had met earlier by Lake Belvedere and that had tried in vain to share our lunch by the lake.

Before that we, the Social Walkers, had strolled down from the new Concord West station to a popular picnic area which today was unusually deserted. After morning tea we continued along the various paths in the area, stopping to admire flowers, a puzzling metal structure and some of the mangroves, unfortunately at low tide. With much talking and many signs to read we wandered on, around the lake to our pleasant lunch spot. Leaving two white ducks behind to clean up the slightest crumb left, we started up the hill with the swans at last realising we weren’t to be useful friends.
By now there was more action in the usually busy park and so we left, making for a coffee shop.
Another pleasant day’s outing.
