For our first walk after the break it was great to have 12 walkers all social distancing waiting for us in Bampi Place on a beautiful sunny morning. After the pre-walk brief from Clive we set out on the Explosive Reserve track & onto the foreshore track to HC Press Park for morning tea. It was once a picnic ground, running track & dance Hall. After a rest in the sun we took a detour to see Willis Castle, built by Henry Willis in 1905 & named after Innisfallen a ruined abbey in Kilarney. Back on the track around North Arm of Sugarloaf Bay we crossed Scott's Creek via a wooden bridge & onto the Harold Reid foreshore walk to the South Arm of the bay. Once on the South Arm we then veered onto a track on the right & uphill to the Sugarloaf Lookout. Here we had a well-earned rest & lunchbreak with spectacular views of the Castle, Seaforth & surrounding bays. After lunch we retraced our steps back to Denawen Ave & onto the short cut via some streets back to the cars. Most of the group then enjoyed a coffee & after walk chat at the "Grumpy Baker" cafe in Castle Cove.
Thanks everyone for a great day out
