'Lookout with wonderful views of Cowan Creek'
Twelve walkers started at Harwood Road and descended the Mt Ku-ring-gai Track to our morning tea spot at Apple Tree Bay with short stops at a lookout with wonderful views of Cowan Creek and to view an unusual sandstone cave.

We followed the shore of Apple Tree Bay to Cockle Creek and after an interesting stop to view a native bee hive walked along the Mangrove Broadwalk and Rainforest Track. Seeing water flowing through the Rainforest was a contrast to an HVB walk a few weeks ago when the creek was dry.

After a steep climb up the lower Birrawanna track to another great lookout over Cowan Creek we descended a difficult track back to Apple Tree Bay for a leisurely lunch.
Then it was back up the Mt Ku-ring-gai Track, with a side trip to "The Firefighters Rest" memorial, to our cars and coffee at The Wise Monkey in Berowra.

Heard on the track.....a walker weighed their two pieces of fruit....the difference was 20grams....thought they would eat the heavier piece at morning tea so they wouldn't have to carry the that piece back up the track. Hope the walker was grateful for their decision.....(Ed)
