Hillview walkers gathered at Chatswood Train Station to catch the Metro to Rouse Hill, looking for a fun day out. By the time we all arrived at Rouse Hill Station our numbers had swelled to twenty, a most respectable number. The sun was out and we were off and away. With a spring in our steps and adventure on our minds, we headed to the bus stop for the start of this Magical Mystery Tour. We alighted the bus outside the historic homestead “Aberdoon House”, originally owned by Mr Money and his wife Noppy. It is now a Community Centre and is currently leased by the NDIS. The old slat shed still stands and a plaque was readily available to enlighten us. We had our morning tea here on the gentle slopes and gazed at the distant views.

Our circular walk commenced from here. Onward we travelled and came upon the wildlife bird information installations but unfortunately vandals had removed some of the metal bird plaques. We moved on and walked down the winding path to the gravestone of an unknown person, who is buried there from circa 1800s.
This area has great historical interest best illustrated by “The Fiddler”, originally the old Coach stop, which we passed just after the bus left the metro station. It is now a beautiful pub and is well worth a visit. The old sandstone blocks are beautifully restored and it has a vibrant look about it.
We passed many big homes, particularly those next to the weir. There were many water birds and we saw their landing attempts on the water.

Lunch was in a lovely playground and then it was up the hill, through Maria lori Reserve and some street walking to take us back to the bus stop and on to coffee.
Plaque dedicated to Marie Iori in the park named after her and remains of the "Iori" pump shed
Moss Bros Coffee Shop did wonderful coffee and real milkshakes - in metal containers no less.
It was a great day out and the journey home a real adventure too....
