13 met at Circular Quay to catch the 9:07am ferry to Parramatta.
Along the route we met Pauline at Chiswick and arriving at the Parramatta ferry wharf at 10.30 we met another 3 walkers.
After morning tea in shelter beside the ferry wharf we crossed the river at the Charles Street Weir to walk downstream on the boardwalk to the Alfred Street Bridge.
The boardwalk is beside the river and cut into shale rock which Don was able to identify and explain the formation.
We then followed the track around the Baludarri Wetland, a river foreshore with magnificient old trees and mangroves lining the river bank. We walked onto a short river boardwalk where Lindy was able to explain the adaptations of mangroves to living in salt water.

We walked under James Ruse Drive to the Western Sydney University South Parramatta Campus.
It is a site which embodies a 200 year story of government institutional care for children and the mentally ill within its architectural form; a narrative riddled with juxtaposing notions of care and separation.

We had coffee at the River CafeĢ before we caught the light rail from Yallamundi Station back to Parramatta Square.
Some of those with local knowledge caught the light rail towards Carlingford.
On the light rail Colleen had an amazing meet-up with John Coutis . She is currently half way through the book 'From the Ground Up' by John Coutiswhich she picked this up from a local street library.
