Ten walkers undertook this activity. The weather was predicted to be wet, with at least some showers and a storm. However, no rain at all with it being hot and clear most of the time. Thick clouds were both out to sea as well as on top of the Illawarra escarpment.
Leaving Bellambi station at 10.05 we walked due east to the sea at Bellambi Surf Club. Not far from there we had morning tea in shelter sheds at the rock baths at Bellambi Harbour. After the break it was onwards along the coast through Corrimal and Towradgi to Fairy Meadow. Here we deviated from the pathway on the bush track through Puckey’s Estate with its welcome shade from overhanging trees . Lunch was in another shelter shed in Stuart Park North Wollongong with awesome coastal views. After lunch, on to North Wollongong beach, Wollongong Harbour including the historic Belmore Basin, Flagstaff Hill and Wollongong beach. From there it was up Crown Street (Wollongong’s main street) to the railway station including a stop at Nardia’s Kitchen for well deserved refreshments. All in all a good day out.
