We met at the Salvation Creek Picnic Area, West Head Road under a blue and cloudy sky.

Skirting the edge of the hanging swamp and wet heathland, we noticed how the vegetation changes. Only plants that don’t mind getting their feet wet can thrive here

sphagnum moss, sword grass and the green-flowering swamp banksia.
Coral and pink swamp heath are dotted through the heathland.
We accessed the Wallaroo North Track at the mid-point of the Salvation Loop Track.
The Wallaroo walking track meanders through open woodland through a rare stand of yellow-top ash trees
before arriving at a secluded rocky overhang with magnificent water views across Ku-ring-gai Chase, Cowan Creek and towards the Hawkesbury River.

After enjoying morning tea with the view we decided the steep descent was a health and safety risk, so we would complete the walk on the Salvation loop to the road
and back along the bushland loop to the picnic area for lunch.
We drove to Frankies Cafe for coffee in rain as we left Ku-Ring-Gai Chase!
A birthday celebration for Carolyn and Pragati during coffee time at the Frankie's cafe after the walk today. Happy birthday to Carolyn and Pragati! The cakes were scrumptious
