07 August - EZY Walk: Powells Creek Walk

HOMEBUSH STATION TO ISMAY PARK TO BEGIN THE NEW POWELLS CREEK WALK TO BICENTENNIAL PARK AND CONCORD STATION.

17 of us set off from Homebush Station in bright sunshine to Ismay Park and the Powells Creek walk. This is a new walk.
On entering the park we admired the art work on support of the M4 motorway and morning tea was had near the Korean War Memorial. The walk continued around a soccer field to Powells Creek continuing to the Mason Park wetlands. There we saw a white heron, a grey heron, a spoonbill, black winged stilt, a cruising pelican some seagulls and ducks which was lovely. On the Reccy we only saw 2 black winged stilts. The walk lead us on into Bicentennial Park and we made our way past Concord West picnic park and through the bush to the overgrown bush track to the salt marsh viewing tower and back on the path to the Concord West park for lunch. We then crossed over Concord station for our coffee in the Three Spoons.
A very enjoyable new easy walk.
