17 walkers set out to walk the Lane Cove River, in beautiful weather. The area is very degraded in parts, but there is still much good bush, and the reflections in the river were impressive.
Unfortunately, shortly after morning tea, one walker fell, hurting their ankle. Late report is no sprain and no broken bones. Thanks to Margaret P who administered first aid and donated a compression bandage and to Dawn, Don W, Helen A and Ray on escort duty to a waiting car. This quartet then played 'catch-up' - arriving in time for coffee at walk's end.
The leading 12 walkers had been warned that lunch would be on the late side, as the best place to stop is near the end of the whole walk. However, they survived, and enjoyed coffee etc at a restaurant near Fullers Bridge.
We had three new members completing their memberships, so welcome to them, and it's good to see that the group is still growing.
MT was 'pull up a rock' in salubrious surroundings. Meanwhile the leadership troika - tail-end-Charlie Rosemary W and leaders Elaine E and Dawn stood aside to either plan the way ahead, or, eat bananas.
Under a very decent rock overhang - Ray, Aileen, Ida and Lydia
Some vegetation seen along the way. 'Reflections' and question: Is there anywhere an angophora won't grow?
On the catch-up trail. 'Six hands of Gawker-Walkers at Porters Creek Bridge' and the sign.
Caught up - Dawn and Helen A arrive for coffee.
For the record: Elaine E and Dawn led Catherine, Anne R, Margaret P, Ray, Diana L, Annette, Lydia, Helen A, Rosie H, Sue F, Aileen, Faye, Ida, Don W and Rosemary W.
