We gathered at the duckpond in Prince Edward St, Black Heath (yes, there is a duckpond there!) in perfect cloudless weather with a slight breeze to cool us down from time to time. Led by Annette, David, and Don W, we had nine members, including three intrepid travellers who came by train. We walked through lovely bush along Popes Glen, admiring the tall white Mountain Ash forest in places – but very few wildflowers. After morning tea by a gently babbling brook, we went on to meet the Govetts Leap - Pulpit Rock track and followed this to Govetts Leap. The magnificent Grose Valley was at its glorious best, in midday sunshine. After lunch we walked back to the duckpond along the Braeside Walk, with a short diversion for a glimpse of Bridal Veil Falls. We were lucky to make it back safely, however, as we passed a landlside that had demolished part of the cliff along Breside Walk and assessed it had missed us by only about three months.
All agreed it was a highly enjoyable walk.
