Eighteen walkers were happy to travel by train and ferry for today’s substitute walk Bundeena to Marley Beach. Two more walkers joined us at Bundeena. In brilliant sunshine we followed the edge of the sandstone cliffs of the well sign posted Royal Coastal Track. The Royal Coastal track is a 26km walk between Bundeena and Otford and covers the coastline of the Royal NP. The Royal NP which covers 150 square km was founded by Sir John Robertson Acting Premier of New South Wales and formally proclaimed on 26 April 1879. Its original name was just National Park but it was renamed in 1955 after Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia passed by in the train during her 1954 tour.

Setting off from the ferry wharf through the streets of Bundeena we arrived at the entrance to the Coastal Track following a gravel road to a flat path through coastal heathland to the cliff edge for our first look at the coastal views.
Heading south we soon arrived at The Balconies which was our morning tea spot with spectacular views down the coastline.

Continuing on we soon reached the steep steps down to the Waterrun and on to Wedding Cake Rock.

Eagle Rock ....and more intriguing rocks
Wedding Cake Rock....is it about to fall? We all decided to stay behind the fence!
Leaving Wedding Cake Rock we walked another 1km to Marley Head, Marley Beach and lunch.

A quicker pace back to Bundeena enabled us to catch the 3.00pm ferry. Some walkers were able to quickly get served with take away coffees while other walkers took advantage of ice creams from a supermarket. Another great day out walking with HVB!
'Curranulla' brought us safely back to Cronulla
