Under brooding clouds, three plus walkers checked the BOM radar, metaphorically tossed a coin to see who would be tail-end-Charlie and set off down the track to Jerusalem Bay. The track was more eroded than previously, but still passable with care. The tide was out and the water had an eerie, silvery sheen to it. Then came THAT climb out of the bay up to Govett Ridge. By the time we reached the top, we were unable to tell if our skin was slick from perspiration or precipitation! Morning tea was very welcome.
Three intrepid Plus walkers Observations Jerusalem Bay
The rest of the walk was less strenuous, though still with some ups and downs. We walked through some lovely bush which changed distinctly as we neared the Hawkesbury River. Sometimes, we walked through the clouds. There were some excellent views along the way of distant mountains, rivers, bridges and roads, all glimpsed through a shroud of clouds.

A family of black cockatoos entertained us as they feasted on banksia seeds and flew back and forth across the track, sadly too quickly to be captured by us on camera. A few wildflowers were also found, mostly as we moved closer to the Hawkesbury River, and there was enough fungi to keep everyone busy taking photos.

It was an unplanned delight to meet up with the regular walkers for lunch, overlooking the magnificent Hawkesbury. Takeaway coffee and cake saw us on the early train back home, well pleased with the day’s walk.
