As the leaders crossed the Harbour Bridge with rain pouring down, they wondered how many fellow bushwalkers they would meet at the Town Hall station platform. However, they were pleasantly surprised to find as many as 18 fellow walkers turned up undaunted.

The group caught the train to Kogarah station and then took a short walk to catch the bus to the corner of Rocky Point Road and Fontainebleau Street. By this stage the rain had stopped to the delight of all. A short stroll through back streets brought us to the Walk Briefing point at the Cook Park Trail.

The leader Don then commenced the walk proper with the group, and leader Louis brought up the rear guard.

The walk was flat on paving along the foreshore of Botany Bay offering beautiful views of the bay, parks and interesting houses. After about 15 minutes the group stopped at Scott Park for morning tea.
The group continued on the Cook Park Trail through the Peter Depena Reserve and the St George Boat Club building at Dolls Point,

By the time everyone had finished lunch it began to rain quite heavily. Claude, Margaret and Lyndy decided that they would catch a bus into the city to go home. The remaining group bravely continued on under General Holmes Drive and round to the start of Muddy Creek to  follow the creek bank past the Market Gardens. The rain became very heavy, the roads and drains overflowing, and so, the group arrived at the King Street pedestrian mall where the coffee spot was. Alas, with many quite wet, the desire to have coffee had been washed away.

And so, the group crossed  Princes Highway to  Rockdale Station, where they fortunately entered warm carriages back to Town Hall station.
