On a beautiful and sunny autumn morning seven keen walkers arrived at the end of Warrimoo Ave, St Ives Chase for this walk which took us down the Warrimoo Track to a service trail on the right. From here we soon spied the first Pylon and the track nearby where a steep descent to Cowan Creek begins. Following the cairns we wind our way down to reach and cross Christies Pool.

A steep and challenging ascent took us to the Ryland Track and then the Cooyong-Neverfail trail towards Mona Vale Road. There were lots of different flowers along here including surprisingly for this time of year some Christmas Bells!

Walking on the Cooyong-Neverfail Trail and at the junction of the Cooyong/Neverfail Trail and the track towards St Ives Showground "You need to be on horseback to be high enough to read this sign!"
From here we follow a narrow path to St Ives Showground, where some of us have a coffee and we all study the map of the area done during the war when troops were training at the Showground. Afterwards we go on a management trail to the Wildflower Garden for lunch. Then we take the Mueller Track, which has a great display of fungi growing on dead tree trunks and head back to our cars along a management trail with another creek crossing, before climbing steeply up to Phillip Road and a short section of road walking. In total we counted that we went past a total of eight Pylons during the walk. Five of us enjoyed our after-walk coffee and chat at Pattison's St Ives. Thanks to everyone who came along on the walk.
