What a perfect day for a walk! The unlucky number of 13 walkers was not unlucky as the perfect blue sky was reflected in the waters of Bray’s Bay, Rhodes, and the start of our walk. We walked through the old ship yards memorial and onto the Kokoda Track Memorial Path, another memorial well-presented along the shady track and ending at the rose garden opposite Concord Hospital. Being August, the flowers were few but they were wonderfully perfumed.
We then walked through the grounds of Hirondell, once a lovely home with its wharf on the banks of the Parramatta River. Following the path down by the river we wound our way through mangroves back towards the Kokoda Track path.
After lunch at the popular picnic area in Rhodes Park we returned along our outward route to the station.
