On a beautiful winter's day, eight walkers assembled at Central Station to travel by light rail down to Blackwattle Bay to commence their walk.
The unexpectedly warm day made the very first stop a very necessary one for discarding layers of clothing and fuelling up with Morning Tea
Gracing the end of Forsythe St,one of Walter Burley Griffin's incinerators reminded the walkers of past land use with rows of columns representing the original council sheds on the site. The walkers were grateful that it was not just about industry, medium density housing and high rise
It was a perfect day for a leisurely walk enjoying the significant urban renewal surrounding Blackwattle Bay
Chooks scratched busily in the grounds of Bellevue House (built in 1883 and now housing Blackwattle Cafe), seemingly oblivious to the excitement they were causing amongst the dogs being walked around the Bay.
A bee 'hotel' to encourage native bees. What a great idea!
Do these walkers win the prize for the most unusual coffee venue?. Coffee being enjoyed at the restored Tramsheds in one of the last trams in service. Strangely no one remembered the comfort of the old trams being up to this standard!
Mary and Dawn led six others, Elizabeth, Kath, Liz W, Jean McD, Margaret B, Margaret D. Thank you to Dawn for standing in for Lyn who is enjoying the spectacular scenery in WA
