It was a bright and clear winters day when twelve walkers car-shuffled form Narrabeen Lagoon up to Morgan Rd Belrose to begin their walk back down to the lagoon. We were joined later by two more walkers when they reached the lagoon. The track initially took us downhill towards an airstrip for model aircraft before we ascended away from the strip walking around it in a wide arc before descending to a creek for morning tea accompanied by the sound of an acrobatic model aircraft overhead. Enjoying morning tea on the rocks by the creek and by the reed pool (below)
Commencing the walk in the long morning shadows
First on a fire trail and then a bush track we entered the attractive tributary of Deep Creek with its gently flowing waters trickling down over the rocks
We clambered down the creek along rock ledges and through gaps in the rocks
Arriving at the bottom we walked past an old Angophora and through the canopy
and admired the splendid reflections in the creek
We observed that the wild flower season has now arrived, as the collage below testifies
Fucshia Heath-Epacris longifolia, Grevillea speciosa and Hibertia
Tea Tree
Grevillea, Wattle and Boronia ledifolia
We then proceeded to walk around Narrabeen Lagoon and changed from observing wild flowers to large birds
A Black Swan moves peacefully past and a Cormorant drying its wings amonst the Casuarinas on reflective waters
The leader outlines the last section leading to the coffee shop High winds blew water over the track on that section
