After significant rain in the preceding days, an awareness that the Lane Cove River crossings would be flooded & the prediction of more rain on the day, Vreni & I decided to turn up at Epping Station as a token gesture. Much to our surprise, nine intrepid walkers turned up too – with the expectation of doing the walk. We had no choice!
Luckily we encountered only a couple of showers, Terrys Creek & the Lane Cove River crossings could be negotiated without too much alarm & walking in squelchy boots wasn’t a problem. Much fun was had by all & the coffee at Thornleigh was a welcome reward.
Warm and dry at Epping Station
Colourful vegetation alongside the M2 - a false sense of security here?
Now for the reality! Crossing Terrys Creek............. ........under the M2................. ...........and into the wet forest.
Morning tea - who would want to sit down? But a galah mother and chick provided a diversion
Then the Lane Cove River crossings started - Browns Waterhole.. ..then the first wading... then the second wading.
Then the third wading................. .....and the fourth!
Walking in tree fern forest along the Great North Walk, and on very muddy tracks throught the rain forest.
Final wading of LCR Lovely leptospermum Lunch - and a place to sit!!
Three wise men. Waiting for the tail. Coffee time - not dry, but no longer getting wetter
