Nine regular walkers and a visitor set off on the Coastal Trail in the Munmorah SCA, starting on the Geebung Track. Underfoot was clay soil and the vegetation included Stringy Barks and heath plants. At the informal lookout looking back over Birdie Beach and towards Norah Head, we enjoyed Anzac biscuits baked by Helen, while the plus walkers powered past us.

Morning tea was enjoyed at the whale watching area at Wybung Head (Wybung is aboriginal for ‘dangerous sea’) with an amazing view of the sea and a soaring Sea Eagle.

We proceeded from there onto the Grass Tree Track which was narrower and on sandy soil, sporting large bull ants whose nasty bites were unfortunately experienced by a couple of walkers. Wild flowers, the banksias and the many grass trees prompted much photographing. This track led us onto Frazer Beach.

From the beach we headed up to an area of tropical delight, and walked around the Palm Circuit before returning to the beach for lunch.

Here John amused us with his repertoire of jokes, while some Fairy Wrens challenged the reaction times of the photographers.

Walking back along the track offered a different view and we were delighted by some Fire tails.

To finish, we drove around to Snapper Point and braved the strong wind to see the remarkable rock formations and the large cave carved out by the pounding water.

A thoroughly enjoyable day was rounded off with Helen shouting us all coffee at Jamaica Blue as it was her birthday – thank you, Helen and we hope you had a good birthday.
Happy Birthday Helen
