This walk was programmed to start at Wagstaffe, where walkers would catch a ferry to Ettalong Beach. However on the day the ferry was 'cancelled', so from Wagstaffe leaders Claude and Pragati organized a car shuffle to Ettalong. From Ettalong the fifteen walkers set off for Blackwall Mountain & the stunning view was enjoyed over morning tea. Descending, we crossed the Rip Bridge and climbed to the top of Dayleys Point Ridge . Here we studied the Aboriginal Rock engraving site before proceeding on the fire trail to the junction where we followed the lovely Rocky Point bush trail to the Allen Strom Lookout for lunch & yet another spectacular view.
Descending a rough & steep track to Hardy’s Bay we enjoyed coffee at the Old Killcare Café. A further walk by the water took us back to Wagstaffe and the completion of the car shuffle to Ettalong.

The Wagstaff General Store
Wagstaff holds and special place in Margaret P's memory. Her parents owned the Wagstaff Genral Store/Post Office for several years in the 1940s.
Margaret and her siblings had a happy childhood, despite initially the enclave having no electricity or roads out.
These pictures from Margaret give a rare glimpse of early European settlement.
